About This Tour

Discover the "Pearl of the Adriatic" on this full-day group tour from Split. Travel in a comfortable air-conditioned bus along one of the most beautiful coastal roads in Europe, with photo stops along the way. Arrive in Dubrovnik and meet your local guide for a 1.5-hour walking tour through the UNESCO-listed Old Town — one of the best-preserved medieval walled cities in the world. Walk the Stradun (the famous polished limestone main street), visit the Franciscan Monastery, the Renaissance Rector's Palace, the city walls, Lovrijenac Fortress, and the picturesque squares that starred as King's Landing in Game of Thrones. After the guided portion, enjoy approximately 4 hours of free time to explore independently — climb the city walls (paid extra), take the cable car to Srđ Mountain for panoramic views, stop by the harbor, swim at a local beach, or taste traditional Dalmatian food at a hidden restaurant. On the return journey, we pass the villages of Orašac and Trsteno, admire the Elaphiti islands across the sea, and make a special stop in Ston — famous for producing some of the best oysters in Europe, harvested from the pristine waters of Mali Ston Bay. It's the perfect way to end the day before heading back to Split.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Dubrovnik day trip from Split worth the 12 hours?

Yes — Dubrovnik is widely considered the most beautiful walled city in Europe, and the 3-hour drive each way passes along one of the most scenic coastal roads in the Mediterranean. Thousands of visitors do this day trip each year. The 4 hours of free time in Dubrovnik is enough to walk the walls, see the main sights, and have lunch. The bonus oyster stop in Ston makes the return journey a highlight.

Is the Dubrovnik city walls entrance fee included?

No — walking the Dubrovnik city walls is an optional paid activity (approximately €35 per adult). It's highly recommended if you have time during the free portion — the 2 km circuit offers the best views in the city. Cable car to Srđ Mountain is also not included (~€27 return). Pay in cash or card on arrival.

Why do we stop in Ston on the way back from Dubrovnik?

Ston is famous for two things: the second-longest defensive wall in Europe (after the Great Wall of China), and producing some of the best oysters in the world. Mali Ston Bay's unique mix of fresh and saltwater creates ideal conditions for oyster farming, and the tradition goes back to Roman times. It's the perfect relaxing stop before the final stretch back to Split.

Where were the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones scenes filmed?

Dubrovnik's Old Town served as King's Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. You'll see the Jesuit Stairs (the famous "Walk of Shame" scene), Pile Gate, Fort Lovrijenac (the Red Keep), and the walls themselves. Your guide will point out key filming locations during the walking tour.

Should I do the group tour or private tour to Dubrovnik?

The group tour (€70/person) is excellent value — bus transport, guide, and 4 hours of free time on a fixed schedule. The private tour (€580/group) adds hotel pickup, flexible pace, a dedicated vehicle, and the ability to customize stops. For families of 4+ or groups wanting comfort and flexibility, the private tour is better per-person value.
